Passport and visas
An applicant shall be holder of a valid passport or another acceptable travel document. The document must have a validity of at least 6 months on the day of entry in Rwanda.
Foreign Nationals wishing to obtain Rwandan Visas, submit their applications to Rwandan Diplomatic Missions of their Country of residence for processing.
In the case of those coming from countries where we don’t have a Diplomatic Mission, they should request for an entry facility on line (www.migration.gov.rw) which will be used to obtain a visa on any official point of entry in Rwanda.
Nationals from Austria, Germany, Israel, New Zealand, Republic of South Africa, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States of America, shall get entry visa and pay visa fee upon arrival at any Rwanda entry point without prior application.
EAC partner States are issued a 6 months visitors pass at any Rwanda entry points with no fee DRC Citizens are issued a 90 days visa at any entry Rwanda points with no fee Nationals of Singapore, Hong Kong, Mauritius and Philippines are exempted from entry/tourism visa for a stay of up 90 days National of African countries not exempted from visa fee get visa at Rwanda entry points ( Kigali International Airport and all land boarders ) Nationals of counties not mentioned above shall get visa upon application before travelling and pay prescribed visa fee
Yellow Fever Vaccination certificate is required at the border post. In the event of a major disease outbreak, specific requirements could be set and put to the knowledge of the applicants.
The unit of currency is the Rwanda Franc (FRW). The US dollar is the hard currency of preference. Credit cards are usually only accepted at the major hotels & restaurants in Kigali.
In addition to the indigenous language of Kinyarwanda, French and English are official languages.
