Minister Kanimba awarding MTN as the overall winner
The 18th edition of Rwanda International Trade Fair ended on the 12th August 2015 by the closing ceremony officiated by the minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Francois Kanimba.
This Trade Fair has occupied important position in the calendar events not only in Rwanda but also at international level. 408 exhibitors, including large number of foreign participants and more than 311,824 visitors, making it one of the largest Trade Fair in this region; both in terms of participation of exhibitors as well as in terms of number of visitors.
More than 1224 young people got job during this EXPO and an earnings per person ranging between 5.000 and 20.000 per day.
This edition was a success on the side of organizers as well as the exhibitors. According to the Chairman of PSF, Mr. Benjamin Gasamagera, 33% of foreign exhibitors are willing to open businesses in Rwanda and PSF pledges its support and ready to provide necessary help.
Faizal Baturat, who represented the foreign exhibitors, commended the enabling business environment in the country, saying the expo gave them a chance to explore the investment opportunities in Rwanda. However, he requested PSF to move the expo to a bigger space.
The minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Francois Kanimba said that the EXPO 2015 exceeded expectations and Government will continue to promote reforms that facilitate trade. As the numbers of exhibitors and visitors increases of the years, to satisfy ones and others’ expectations, we need to expand the space for coming exhibitions, Gasamagera added.
MTN Rwanda emerged the overall best exhibitor, followed by Bralirwa and RBA. Kenya was ranked the best foreign exhibitor, with Pakistan and Egypt in second and third place, respectively.
The 19th Rwanda International Trade Fair is scheduled to take place from 27th July to 10th August 2016. The annual TVET Expo 2015 is to take place from 2nd to 8th October 2015 at Gikondo Expo Ground.
